The 12-point e-bike service checklist
From motor to brakes: the points no e-bike service should skip.
By Mara Schneider
An e-bike service is more than a bicycle service with a battery. More weight, higher speeds and extra systems demand a structured routine.
The key stations
- Inspect and clean the battery contacts.
- Check the motor mount for correct torque.
- Check the drivetrain for wear (chain, cassette, sprockets).
- Test the brakes and bleed if needed.
- Check tyres, spoke tension and wheels.
- Verify software/firmware status where applicable.
With a fixed sequence and the right tools, every e-bike service becomes faster, more thorough and easy to document.
